Global Inclusion Dialogue Moutiers-en-Retz, France

Identity, Polarization

and Climate Change

Local host: Natalie Lutz

May 28- June 1, 2025

This year's GID's gathering will be held in my sleepy little seaside town, Moutiers en Retz.

I am honored to host you in this French coastal town that has escaped the tourist hype. This is partly because Moutiers is close to Pornic and opposite the island of Noirmoutiers which are the stars that draw the crowds. Moutiers has kept it's authentic, traditional small town feel with a village center built around the XIth century church called, L'Eglise Madame. In this central square there is a fish market, a butcher, a baker, a cheese shop, a hairdresser, a post office, and a café with crépes, all of which are open year round and source locally. Twice a week we have a farmer's market where local produce is sold along with the best home made ice cream one could hope for (caramel au beurre salé - a must)! The sandy beaches that line Moutiers, house fisheries and oyster farms that live at the pace of ebbing tides. On the outskirts of the village are the salt marshes and a bird sanctuary where grazing cattle and horses cohabit.

I am greatly looking forward to welcoming you to this peaceful land in harmony with nature, to talk about the important topics we will choose for our GID 2025 Dialogue/non-conference. Among those, I imagine will be the ongoing concern of polarization, the impact we are having on the planet and how we can contribute to solving our societies ills together through dialogue. My hope is that this landscape will set the scene for connection and for the pleasure of being our authentic selves in order to best listen and hear multiple perspectives.

Rendez-vous aux Moutiers!

A bientôt,  Natalie
